My littlest son turns 1 today. I'm trying not to get sentimental or I will probably lose it! :) In the last week, we have put away little baby things that Pax doesn't use anymore. *Tear* This was the scene one year ago this very day....
The most amazing thing I have experienced in my life is giving birth to my babies. They are the happiest, most emotional moments I have been blessed and honored to experience. The whole process is just awesome to me.

Little Paxen Blake Goodson was born at 3:51pm on July 12, 2009 weighing in at 8 pounds 2 ounces and 21 inches in length. I had to be induced, due to the fact that I was 9 days late! I went into the hospital around 5:30am that morning and had him just before 4:00pm. My whole family, as well as some of Phil's, was there for Pax's entrance into the world! It was a wonderful day!

I've mentioned this before, but I'll explain again how we came up with the Paxen's name. Our dads are very important people in our lives. We wanted to pass down their importance and heritage to our sons, so we named our son after both of our dads and Phil, too. We used the "P" from Phil's name, the "ax" from Phil's dad's name (Perry M
ax) and the "en" from my dad's name (Randy All
en) to come up with
Paxen. I came up with the combination, and Phil liked it right away, but it took me a while to come to like it and agree to it. Pax also means "
peace".

Blake was a name that both of us really liked. Also, oddly enough, both of our moms on separate occasions had mentioned that name to us during the pregnancy, so we thought that should be it! Blake means "
light". We gave Pax the life verse of Luke 1:78-79, "Through the heart of tender mercy of our God, a
light from on high will dawn upon us,
{and we pray this for Paxen's life} to shine upon and give light to those who are in darkness, and in the shadow of death, to direct and guide our feet into the straight line of peace."
So, fast forward to a year later... We had to wake Pax up before Phil went to work so we could tell him "Happy Birthday!" We walked in, turned the light on and he didn't know what to think!

He thought we were nuts when we sang to him!
But, then he thought it was funny! (I'm so mad this pic turned out fuzzy! It's SO cute of the little face he's making all the time now... oh well, try to squint and maybe you can make it out.)

Then, I put a candle in his cereal and tried to make him blow it out.

He LOVED it!

Then, when Big Brother woke up, I took Pax into Bennett's room and sang to him again. They both thought I was a crazy lady, but it was fun! I get so excited about birthdays! I LOVE them!
Little Pax is a healthy and happy boy. He is so sensitive... so, so sensitive. You can just give him a stern look and he bawls his eyes out! He LOVES, HONORS and ADORES his older brother. He thinks he is the coolest person in the world. He can say "MaMa" and "DaDa", "dah" (dog), "Buh-ba" (Brother), and tries to say others, too. His favorite thing to eat is graham crackers and green bean yogurt ... (really it's sick and wrong that they make such a thing, but the boy loves it.) He's crawling all over the place, pulling up and cruising around. Yesterday he stood all by himself for a couple seconds, but I don't think he's close to walking yet. It'll happen! One of my favorite things about Pax is his beautiful blue eyes. They seriously shine! He's a cutie in my book. I'm so blessed to be his mom!!
Happy Birthday, Paxen! You are so precious and sweet!
